With Adherence becoming a rallying cry for industry, new technologies are being tested to get patients to take their medicines, with much of the momentum focused on smartphone and tablet-specific approaches. Yesterday, ONS:Edge, a medical communications company unveiled a new partnership with the Mobile Health Library™ (MHL), a mobile-focused clinical engagement platform to provide apps to support the workflow of over 30,000 oncology nurses in their medicines interactions.

Adherence & Access

“As cancer treatments have shifted to oral therapies, oncology nurses report increasing problems with patient understanding and medication adherence. With ONS:Edge, we are able to support the medication safe-use and adherence priorities of our clients’ specific brands, through easy-to-use MHL apps that oncology nurses can prescribe directly to patients,”said Rob Dhoble, CEO of Adherent Health, LLC.

The ONS:Edge Oncology Nurse Resource Center for healthcare professionals is now available in Mobile Health Library, a free app in the iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon app stores. The ONS:Edge Oncology Nurse Resource Center provides easy access to ONS:Edge programs and materials and offers simplified connections to reimbursement assistance services and disease state information. While it remains to be seen just how patients will respond to upscaled professional prompts, it represents a new front in the age old struggle to get patients to extend the persistent six months window where compliance tends to drag.
